It doesn’t seem that long ago since I wrote an open letter to Theo on his 5th birthday, and now, the time has come to prepare for his 6th birthday. I can’t believe my youngest child is going to be 6 years old in just a couple of weeks. I’m starting to feel quite old, despite being just 26!
Both of my children are quite difficult to buy for, creating Mia’s 8th birthday wish list was tough going as she has quite simple tastes. Theo has a ridiculous amount of toys that have been handed down to us, so he doesn’t really need more. Without the need for toys, constructing a gift wish list for a six-year-old can be quite tricky, but together, myself and Theo have found some fantastic gifts that he, and many other children his age, would love.
Theo, like many other six year old’s, absolutely loves being outdoors. He also loves LEGO, imaginary play, crafts, and science. I think it’s pretty much an unwritten rule that you can never have too much LEGO. Theo has a few fantastic sets but would love some new and exciting things to build.
This LEGO 3-in-1 Triceratops and Pterodactyl Dinosaur (aff) has a recommended age of 7-12, but his LEGO abilities are great, so it’s definitely on the list! He’d also love some of the new LEGO movie 2 sets like the Rex-treme Offloader (aff) and Emmet’s Dream House Rescue Rocket (aff). We also found a fantastic book, 365 things to do with LEGO bricks (aff) which I’d love to get him for his 6th birthday, he’ll love completing a model every day for a year and it’s something we can do together or as a family.
Science is something Theo really enjoys, he loves doing experiments and discovering fascinating facts. I find it difficult to encourage his love of science at home, however, the Natural History Museum Pocket Microscope (aff) will allow him to be able to view small objects in high detail with brightness and clarity. He’d love to do some experiments at home with the Horrible Science Explosive Experiments set (aff).
He’s not overly keen on books, but for his 6th birthday, I’d like to get him some books that engage him in a way other books don’t. The Crafty Science book looks great, and he absolutely adores Horrid Henry, so the Horrid Henry’s Loathsome Library Collection (aff) is definitely top of his wish list. Whilst searching for Horrid Henry books, we also found a Horrid Henry board game, so that was added to the list too!
Last, but definitely not least, is his beloved Imaginext. Theo absolutely loves Imaginext sets and has several at home which are played with daily. He is always on the lookout for new and exciting sets, so you can only imagine his joy when he spotted the Imaginext Toy Story Pizza Planet truck (aff) and the Imaginext Joker And Harley Quinn Battle Vehicle (aff) and Imaginext Toy Story Figures (aff).
So there we have it… Theo’s 6th birthday wish list. All I have to do now is prepare everything else, it’s never ending with birthdays isn’t it?! I hope this wish list has given you a little inspiration if you are struggling to find gifts for your six-year-old. Please comment below with any other ideas!
