Long-term readers will know that I’ve been a single mum for a few years now. The majority of the time, the children are with me, except from when they spend time with their Daddy or my Mum. When it comes to childcare, I’ve always relied on my family to help when needed. They’ve always been brilliant, and regularly have the children to give me a bit of a break. However, recently I’ve become acutely aware that my grandparents aren’t getting any younger. My childcare options may not be viable for much longer. Before long, I won’t have the option of dropping the children off with their great-grandma. When that time comes, I’m going to need to look elsewhere for a babysitter. That’s where childcare.co.uk will come in handy.
What is childcare.co.uk?
Childcare.co.uk is an online social networking platform used by over 2 million parents, childcare providers and private tutors. Since it’s launch in 2009, childcare.co.uk has matched parents with suitable childcare providers all over the country. Struggling to find childcare suitable for your needs in your area? Register with childcare.co.uk and discover the childcare options you never knew existed.
Sounds too good to be true – what’s the catch?
There is no catch and no hidden costs. When you initially sign up to childcare.co.uk you will register for a free account. However, you can upgrade to a gold membership if you wish. A gold membership will give you access to premium features. These include a free tastecard+ worth £105 and a free Kids Pass worth £75.
So how does it work?
Once you have registered and confirmed your email address, you can begin searching for a childcare provider using the website or the app available on both iPhone and Android. All you need to do is enter your postcode and the radius in which you’d like to search and specify the type of childcare you are looking for.
You can search for babysitters, Au Pair’s, private tutors, nannies, schools, nurseries and even potty training assistants on childcare.co.uk. Curious as to what childcare is available in my area, I did a search within a 5 mile radius of my postcode. To say I was stunned at the sheer volume of results is an understatement. I had no idea about the variety of childcare options available so close to home. I was able to view OFSTED registered, DBS checked and first aid trained babysitters using the extensive results filter options which gave me peace of mind that when I do need to outsource childcare, I have the tools to find the right childcare provider for us.
Childcare.co.uk is a lifeline for parents and carers, especially those with limited or no support from family and friends. I’m very impressed by the site, especially because of the extensive result filtering options. We live in a world vastly different to the world our parents and grandparents grew up in. The need to take precautions and be vigilant is more prominent than ever. However, it’s important to note that even though the option to filter results down to OFSTED approved, DBS checked childcare providers is available on the website, it is your responsibility to check the appropriate certifications and insurances are valid.
Childcare isn’t just for babies and toddlers, and that’s what childcare.co.uk has recognised. Childcare comes in all shapes and sizes. So whether its a private maths tutor for your teen or an after school club for your 6 year old, you can find it all at childcare.co.uk. I’d recommend childcare.co.uk to anyone looking for childcare they can trust. I’ll definitely be using childcare.co.uk both in the near and distant future.
