The children are at an age now where they enjoy playing games that take a little bit more thinking about. I love that we can play more articulate games together now. When we received Hedbanz to review, I couldn’t wait to see what the kids thought of it. The aim of the game is to guess what object/animal/food you have attached to a band around your head. Each player has to ask a series of questions, the other players can respond with ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to help you guess. The first person to guess what they are correctly wins.
The box contains 72 cards, 6 adjustable headbands, 1 hourglass timer, instructions and 24 scoring chips. Hedbanz is suitable for children aged 7+.
This game is guaranteed to produce smiles and laughter all round. The children were in fits of giggles as I tried to guess what I was, embarrassingly, I didn’t win a single game. Guessing is not my strong point, but apparently it is theirs! Theo is only five, but he managed to play the game well with a little help. I decided against using the hourglass timer as it caused competitiveness between the children I wasn’t willing to contend with on what I hoped to be a relaxing Sunday afternoon.
What I love most about Hedbanz is how it challenges the children’s reasoning skills. It makes them really think about the questions they need to ask. Each answer they receive gives them another piece to their mental jigsaw. Slowly they have to put the pieces together, and eventually they manage to guess what they are.
Hedbanz is the perfect game for play-dates, sleepovers and family fun. If you’re prepared to potentially be out-witted by your children, then Hedbanz is the game for you! It’s available from all good toy stores and online, click here to purchase from Amazon (affiliate link).
