I absolutely love decorating, making a house a home is hugely important to me. Whenever I’m planning some DIY or redecorating, my friends tend to roll their eyes. I don’t blame them really, I get bored easily and once I’ve got an idea in my head there is no stopping me! The thing is, it’s not just about the colour of the paint on the walls, it’s about the finishing touches. That’s where Make My Blinds can help.

When I say finishing touches, I don’t just mean photos and ornaments. Blinds and curtains can completely transform a room. I’ve always preferred blinds to curtains, but I love how cozy curtains can make a room feel. In my bedroom and the living room, I compromised with myself. In my room I have voiles, and in the living room, I have voiles and IKEA Schottis blinds for privacy.

We are very lucky to live in a bungalow that is away from the main road, so we don’t get people peeking in as they walk by. We also don’t have other homes in front of or behind our home, which means I never have to worry about privacy. That said, I still want to be able to shut the world away in the evenings.

Recently Make My Blinds offered me the opportunity to review two blinds from their extensive range. I recently redecorated the children’s bedroom and their black blackout blind looked out of place against the light grey walls, so the first blind I chose was the Amor Cloud Grey Roller Blind (pictured top).

For a long time now, I haven’t had anything adorning the kitchen window. We did have a blind a year or so ago, but long story short, it ended up on my head! With that in mind, I chose the Editions Goose Grey Wooden Blind and instantly contacted my mum to ask her to put it up for me. I might be a bit of a DIY queen these days, but I don’t want another kitchen blind disaster on my hands, or head!

All you have to do is accurately measure the window in which you’d like to place a blind, enter the measurements on the Make My Blinds website, order and wait for your beautiful blinds to be delivered. I was astonished by how quickly my blinds arrived.

The blinds arrived within days of each other and I couldn’t wait to get them up. Instalment instructions are included with the blind and installation is incredibly simple, it took my mum just 15 minutes to put up the kitchen blind, and even less time to install the blind in the children’s bedroom. I was impressed by how sturdy the kitchen blind was, and it was so simple to use. The strings on the left control the position of the wooden slats and the cord on the right controls the position of the blind itself. It is beautifully made and it looks absolutely stunning in my grey and copper kitchen.

As I’m sure most other parents would agree, blackout blinds are a must when you have children, especially at this time of the year. One of the main reasons I kept the black blackout blind in the children’s room when we moved in was because it was great at blocking out the light, I was worried that a better-suited blind would be less effective.

I needn’t have worried though, despite the stark difference in colour, the Amor Cloud Grey Blind is equally as brilliant at blocking out the light and making bedtime a breeze as the black blackout blind was. The difference is, it doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb as the black one did. It’s the perfect finishing touch for their lovely shared bedroom.

I couldn’t recommend Make My Blinds enough, every part of ordering and installing my made to measure blinds was seamless and the quality of the blinds is fantastic. Finally, I can stop feeling like something is missing from my favorite rooms in our home and just enjoy making memories with my children in a gorgeous home.

Make My Blinds very kindly gifted two blinds in return for an honest review. All views and opinions are my own.
