Confidence is not something my children lack, especially when they are around people they know well. They are loud, forthright, opinionated and quite frankly comical. But they can also be shy at times, Theo in particular is easily frustrated and Mia often lacks self-belief, she often needs reminding of quite how brilliant she is. At school, growth mindset and well-being are instilled wherever possible, so when The Happy Confident Company got in touch and offered me the chance to review the Happy Confident Me Journal I jumped at the chance to build on life skills they are already practicing.
The Happy Confident Me Journal is a journal specifically for children. Simply spending 5-10 minutes once a day for 10 weeks focusing on the thought provoking questions and fun activities will encourage your child’s emotional intelligence. Evidence shows that this journal will help to boost self esteem, happiness, positivity and resilience.
At first I was unsure which child would benefit the most from the journal, they both had their unique reasons for needing a boost, but eventually I decided Mia would benefit most. She’s 9 now, hurdling towards double figures, growing up fast, and thanks to the Coronavirus pandemic, her whole world has changed beyond recognition.
She spends hours each day doodling, reading and writing so I knew journalling would come naturally to her. Now that she has begun using the Happy Confident Me Journal (aff) I can see how taking a few minutes each day to reflect, take stock and practice gratitude can benefit all three of us. The journal explains emotions and feelings in a beautifully simple way and I’m already noticing small changes in Mia’s confidence, especially surrounding her art and story writing.
The Happy Confident Me Journal allows children to recognise both their positive and negative emotions and equips them with well being boosting mental tools. There are extra pages each week to allow for extra doodles and writing and lovely quotes.
It’s engaging design is perfect for kids of all ages, I love how every element is explained in a child-friendly way. It’s not over-bearing, overwhelming, or complicated. I’ll definitely be purchasing a copy for Theo when I feel he’ll benefit most.
