Long term followers will know that we’ve not had any easy ride over the last few years health wise. My son, Theo, suffers with severe eczema, asthma and multiple severe allergies. Although he has recently outgrown some of his allergies, he is still in danger of anaphylaxis on a daily basis.
Life as an allergy mum can be incredibly lonely. Between hospital admissions, appointments and regular medication, it’s easy to feel alone.
Theo has suffered with severe allergies since birth. This has resulted in several cases of anaphylaxis which have required the use of his Epi-Pen and a visit to the hospital. Sometimes requiring a short or overnight stay. In the midst of packing bags and keeping the kids calm, I barely have time to fit in calling for help or updating all those who need to know what’s going on, and once I have managed to update everyone, my phone doesn’t stop ringing with people wanting to know what’s going on, asking what we need or what they can do to help.
No More Grapes is a free online platform on which those who are suffering or have a loved one suffering from illness can connect with close family and friends to keep them up to date with appointments and news. You can invite whoever you desire to your circle via email. It allows you to update everyone at once, and is completely private, unlike the likes of Facebook. Those within your circle can communicate and work together to support you and your loved ones.
This would especially helpful for me as childcare for my eldest can often be difficult in emergency situations. With everyone in the loop, childcare can be arranged promptly and efficiently.
No more grapes also connects you to others who are in a similar situation. You can start or join an existing circle. Within your circle you can share ideas and information whilst building friendships based on a mutual understanding of how difficult life can be.
Allergy support Facebook groups were my lifeline in the early days when I was getting to grips with Theo’s health needs but I’d have loved a platform such as No More Grapes.
They say it takes a village to raise a child. No More Grapes keeps your village up to date and takes away the stress and anxiety of sending multiple messages and making endless phone calls. You can focus on yourself and your child, without the hustle and bustle of the outside world.
The No More Grapes shop enables your circle to send you a much-needed treat or helpful gift and a proportion of the profits made are given to cancer charities. You can also create a wish list so that your circle can buy you exactly what you want.
I’d highly recommend No More Grapes to those dealing with illness, especially those who can be taken ill suddenly and unexpectedly. No More Grapes is incredibly easy to use, so even the technophobes in the family can be involved. In my opinion, it’s essential for those with long-term health conditions.
