My Theo, my beautiful little boy.
My heart could burst with love for you. In the past few months you have become more self-assured than ever before. In just a few days your life as a school-boy begins.
I know you’ll be fine, you’re so very excited, but tears sting my eyes whenever I think of you striding into class as if you’ve been there for years, because despite the hard exterior, you’re so very sweet and sensitive inside. You get that from your sister.
Will they see in you what I do? I hope they see beyond that beautiful smile and realize how truly amazing you are. I hope they take notice of your fantastic imagination and allow you to flourish.
In the next year you are going to transform, just like your sister did. You’ll be reading Biff & Chip books and counting to 50 before I know it and I will be filled with pride.
I promise we’ll celebrate all your victories, big and small.
You’ll no longer be quite so dependent on me, instead you will be more independent than ever.
I’m not sure I’m ready.
What if someone is mean or what if someone shouts?
Who will give you a magic kiss if you fall and bump your head?
Starting school opens up a whole new world to you, but please don’t be scared. Mummy will always be there at the end of the day to cuddle away your cares.
I know I’ll cry as I walk away, I know I’ll find it hard. I’m so excited for what the future will bring, but I wish I could hold on to you and your sister a little longer.
My little boy, my last baby, my Theodopolus.
Go and be brilliant, be you and show them just how bright your light can shine.
