Do you have a tween who is seemingly too mature for playing with dolls, but not quite ready to give up toys for good? It’s been a long while since Mia showed any interest in playing with anything other than Lego. So, when we were very kindly sent two #SNAPSTAR dolls I hoped they’d reignite her enthusiasm for imaginative play.
The beauty of #SNAPSTAR dolls is the magical combination of modern concepts and traditional design. The #SNAPSTAR squad is a group of best friends ready to influence the world. Lola, Aspen, Izzy, Echo, Dawn and Yuki are united by their love of fashion, style, food, music and traveling. All six dolls come with fantastic accessories. You can mix and match their clothing using outfit packs which are sold separately.
Each doll has it’s own unique style and personality, perfect for reminding tweens all over the world that it’s okay to be exactly who you want to be. Mia received an Echo doll (aff) and a Yuki doll (aff). Yuki is a feisty chick who marches to her own beat. Echo is a dreamy damsel who floats through life with an easy-breezy outlook. She can’t possibly choose a favourite as she loves them both, just as they are!
So what do #SNAPSTAR dolls actually do you ask? Well, this is where the modern concepts mentioned above come into play. Included with your doll and accessories is a green screen background and a green screen stand. Green-screen technology allows us to place people/objects in amazing landscapes or even transform appearances. All you need to do is set up your green screen and stand, place your doll onto the stand download the #SNAPSTAR studio app from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
The #SNAPSTAR studio app allows you to take photos of your #SNAPSTAR dolls and transform them into ‘social media stars’. Combining technology with traditional toy concepts is a stroke of genius in my opinion. Mia absolutely loves styling Echo and Yuki.
She spends ages chosing different backgrounds, make up and hair styles. You can even chose unique borders, stickers and glasses. Once your tween has perfected the look she wants her #SNAPSTAR doll to have, she can save the image she created to a folder within the app which stores every single #SNAPSTAR creation. It’s like a little digital lookbook! It goes without saying that screen-time should be monitored. However, the #SNAPSTAR studio app is very easy to use, so your tween shouldn’t need too much help.
Our #SNAPSTAR dolls have achieved exactly what I hoped they would. They’ve reminded Mia of how fun it can be to use her vivid imagination on something other than writing and drawing. Don’t get me wrong, I adore her academic and creative personality but it’s been so refreshing to see her excited about a toy again.
Yulu #SNAPSTAR dolls are available to purchase from Amazon from 1st October 2019. I’m almost certain that they’ll be included in many Christmas lists this year. If you’ve got a daughter who would love to bring their imagination to life then grab yours now!
